Guide

A messenger without
a phone number.

With many messengers, your phone number is your account. With anynear you need neither a number nor an account. What that means and what to keep in mind.

Why without a phone number?

  • Your number reveals a lot A phone number can often reveal who you are. In groups, even people you barely know can see it.
  • No address book matching Finding people by number needs your address book. anynear does not need to know your address book.
  • Independent of your phone contract New number, new provider, a phone without a SIM card: your conversations do not depend on it.

How it works

Connect by link, not by number.

01

Set up the app

You only choose a name. No account, no phone number, no email address.

02

Share a link

You send a contact link or a circle invitation, for example by message or in person.

03

Stay connected

Whoever opens the link is connected with you. Messages are end-to-end encrypted.

What to keep in mind.

Without a number, nobody finds you by chance. Anyone who wants to message you needs your link. So only share circle invitations with people who should belong.

Since there is no account, there is no “forgot password” either. To move to a new phone, create a backup in the settings and keep the file safe. Without a backup, your circle simply invites you again. More in help
